Phillips County Museum located on the north side of U.S. Hwy 2 East Included in our displays are; early plains Indian artifacts, homesteading days, ranching and farming in Phillips County, mining, early day schools, mercantile, doctor's office, and many wildlife mounts. We house a very fine dinosaur collection and many marine fossils found in our area. An informative display of early day outlaw, KID CURRY, is featured telling the story of his infamous train robbery in 1901, just to the west of Malta. Phillips County Museum at Malta, Montana, is open daily from Mid-May to Mid-September, with an admission charge. Donations are always welcome. The Phillips County Museum is in it's infancy at this location, moving to this building in 1996, after being housed in a cramped Carnegie Library building for about 20 years. The size of this building has allowed us to spread out our contents, so they are much more attractively displayed. We are constantly adding new displays, better to feature the fascinating history of Phillips County. One-day field trips can be arranged to the local dinosaur dig sites. There is small gift shop in the museum, where the two volumes of "The Yesteryears," the histories of Phillips County's people, are for sale.
