Encompassing an area of 5,131 square miles, Phillips County is located in north central Montana. Malta and Phillips County are a blend of rural communities with traditional family values.

Phillco EGC, joined by progressive city and county governments, established a Business and Industry Development District on the sothwestern edge of Malta in 1999. This site and other similar locations in Phillips County, coupled with direct economic benefits, infrastructure and financing opportunities make Phillips County an excellent relocation prospect.

With a population for the county of approximately 5,100, Phillips County is a blend of rural communities with traditional family values. Residents place considerable value upon the positive attributes of rural, small-town life. Those attributes include good, friendly people, uncrowded surroundings, good schools for children, access to outdoor recreation and lack of crime.

Malta, the county seat is at the crossroads of US Highways #2, #191 and #242, providing direct highway access to the US/Canadian Border at the Port of Morgan, and urban communities of Billings and Great Falls, Montana, where Malta joins the network of the Rocky Mountain Trade Corridor.

This North/South route identified as a principal arterial route within the National Highway System also crosses paths with Burlington Northern Rail and daily Amtrak passenger service.

Access to the fiber optics network is available within the city limits of Malta and a variety of other locations throughout the county.

A recently newly constructed airport offers personal and charter flights on the 4500’ runway. The airport features global positioning on a non-precision approach with lighted glide slope.
